A compass spread is for a situation with more than one thing going on in it — where the pressure is coming from a different direction than the pull, and where what grounds you is not the same as what is arriving. Five positions hold that apart properly. The reading then does the work three cards cannot: it names the shadow and the light in the draw, sets the whole thing in its wider season, and lays out how the themes tend to develop across the next thirty, sixty and ninety days.

This is also the tier where the keepsake stops being a document and starts being an artifact. The spread's true geometry is drawn as an engraved plate, and two almanac figures — the suit distribution and the upright/reversed journey line — are set beside the prose. It closes with an affirmation card built to be printed and carried.

The spread, position by position

The compass sets one card at the centre and four around it, so the reading can hold a situation from four directions at once instead of collapsing it into a single verdict. The centre is the matter; the four points are what presses on it, what holds it up, what is arriving, and what it wants from you.

• The heart of the matterThe centre of the plate and the centre of the reading. What the situation is actually about, underneath how you have been phrasing it. Every other position is read in relation to this one.
• What crosses youThe card laid across the centre: the counter-force. Not an enemy and not a punishment — the thing genuinely pulling against the middle, whether that is a person, a constraint, a habit, or a fear you have been calling a fact.
• What grounds youThe base. What is already holding weight here — the history, the support, the competence you have stopped noticing because it has been reliable. This is usually the most under-read position in the spread, and the one that changes how people feel about the rest.
• What approachesWhat is coming into range. Read as tendency and texture rather than event: the kind of thing arriving, and what it will ask you to be ready for.
• What it asks of youThe counsel position. Not an instruction — the specific move, posture or admission this particular draw keeps pointing at. This is the position the practices at the end of the reading are built from.

The keepsake document

Every reading is also built as a designed document you can download, keep and print — set in the same Ritual Almanac style as this page, gold on deep navy, and self-contained so it opens with no network at all.

• A title leaf carrying the reading's name, the date it was completed, its order reference, and your question set in its own framed panel.
• “The Cards Drawn” — every card in an engraved gold frame, named with its position and turned upside down on the page when it fell reversed. Dealt once at purchase and sealed to that order.
• “Reading at a Glance” — a small elemental balance chart with one ring per card (Wands→Fire, Cups→Water, Swords→Air, Pentacles→Earth, Major Arcana→Spirit), a Major/Minor count, an upright/reversed count, and chips naming the threads that recur across the draw.
• The reading itself, each chapter opened by a gold Roman numeral, with the affirmation and journal prompts set off in their own panels.
• A closing colophon with the four-point Sparkle seal. The file is a self-contained document: open it offline, keep it, or print it.
• The engraved spread plate — the compass drawn in its true geometry, centre card with the crossing card laid over it and the three points around, each cell labelled with its position and marked when the card fell reversed. It is drawn, not photographed, so it prints cleanly.
• Two almanac figures, set beside the prose in an alternating left-right rhythm: Suit Distribution, a bar plate counting Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles and Major Arcana across your five cards; and The Journey Line, a line that steps up and down across the five positions according to which cards stood upright and which fell reversed.
• A printable affirmation card — your affirmation set inside a gold-framed card sized to be cut out and kept.

Every figure is derived from your own draw, so the same five cards always produce the same plate. The cover leaf and the printable journal pages are reserved for the Celtic Cross Atlas.

Delivery, honestly

Your five cards are dealt the moment payment is confirmed, and the reading is composed in depth and delivered within 2–4 hours. Your account shows the time it is due, and it is emailed to you when it is ready. These are digital products: your cards are dealt and your reading begins as soon as payment is confirmed, so you are asking for delivery to start immediately. You will find the reading in your account and in your inbox, and the keepsake is yours to download whenever you like.

At checkout you tick a box asking for the reading to be prepared and delivered straight away and confirming that you understand you lose your 14-day right to cancel once it has been delivered; we confirm that back to you in the delivery email. Because that consent is given, once a reading has been delivered it is not refunded. This does not affect your rights if a reading is faulty, not delivered, or not as described — write to [email protected] and we will put it right. Before delivery, an unpaid checkout can be cancelled from your orders list at no cost.

Questions

Why does this one take 2–4 hours?

Because it is composed in depth rather than turned around instantly. Your cards are dealt and sealed to the order at purchase; your account shows the time the reading is due, and it is emailed to you when it is ready.

What if it is not ready in four hours?

It is a promise, not an estimate, and your account shows the order's status the whole way through. If something goes wrong the order is visible as needing attention rather than silently stalling — contact support and we will sort it.

How is this different from the Three-Card Path?

Five positions instead of three, roughly twice the length, plus the shadow-and-light section, the wider-sky context, the 30·60·90-day arc, the three elemental practices, the engraved spread plate, two almanac figures and a printable affirmation card.

Can I use it for a health, legal or money decision?
