Is Death a good card to get as intentions?

Upright, yes — Death as intentions is read as an honest, workable signal about what someone means to do. The door that only opens forward in this position rewards directness: name what the card describes and it becomes something you can work with. Reversed, treat it as a draft rather than a verdict and give the situation a fortnight before re-reading.

Death as Intentions — Tarot Meaning

Major Arcana · Death · Keywords: Endings, Change, Transformation, Transition

undefined

Drawn as intentions, Death stops being a general symbol and becomes a specific answer. The card's keywords are endings, change, transformation, transition; the intentions position describes what someone means to do — the direction of their will, acted on or not, and those keywords are the vocabulary it speaks in.

What Death means as intentions

The intentions position asks a pointed question, and Death answers in its own idiom: the door that only opens forward. Upright, the idiom is fluent — endings, change, transformation, transition — which means what someone means to do is currently clear, available, and working in your favour. This is one of the cleaner placements for this card.

Seasoned readers check the dignity of the card in the position. Death as intentions is well-dignified when the questioner can name what they feel, want, or fear without flinching — because the door that only opens forward rewards honesty and punishes performance. If the reading feels unclear, the block is usually not in the cards but in the willingness to hear the answer.

Death reversed as intentions

Sometimes a reversal simply lowers the volume. Death reversed as intentions can mean the door that only opens forward in a quieter key — endings, change, transformation, transition as background rather than headline. Not every reversed card is a crisis; some are footnotes. Check the surrounding cards: if they are loud, this one is probably the whisper you were meant to catch.
