undefined

If The Magician has come up as intentions in your spread, the cards are answering what someone means to do with the tools already on the table. This page unpacks that answer — upright, reversed, and in plain language.

What The Magician means as intentions

Read as intentions, The Magician is at its most literal. Forget cleverness: the tools already on the table applied to what someone means to do means what it says. The keywords manifestation, power, skill, concentration are not metaphors here — they are the report. When this card is upright in this position, trust the surface reading first; depth is for the surrounding cards.

There is a second layer worth noting. The Magician carries Mercury and Air correspondences, and the tools already on the table under those influences suggests the situation has momentum, not just meaning. Cards do not only describe states; they describe directions. The direction here is the one agency takes when it is honoured rather than resisted.

The Magician reversed as intentions

Reversed, The Magician as intentions turns the reading inward. The the tools already on the table does not disappear — manifestation, power, skill, concentration inverted become delayed, private, or blocked. Where the upright card answers what someone means to do openly, the reversal suggests the answer is unfinished: felt but unspoken, intended but unacted, approaching but not arrived. Read it as a draft rather than a denial.
